1974 Vintage Lata Mangeshkar Concert Poster
This rare vintage poster was for Lata Mangeshkar's historic 1974 concert at London's most iconic venue, the Royal Albert Hall. In 1974, Lata became the first Indian to perform live at the prestigious venue with a series of three sold-out concerts within a single week. It was also her first performance outside India.
The concerts were hosted by the late actor Dilip Kumar, who affectionately called Lata his "little sister." In his introduction, he eloquently praised her voice: "Just as the fragrance of a flower has no color, just as flowing water or the breeze has no boundaries, and just as the rays of the sun have no religious divide, the voice of Lata Mangeshkar is just such a miracle of nature,” he told the audience in Urdu.
Recordings of the concerts, including Dilip Kumar's introduction, were released on vinyl and sold over a hundred thousand copies. The proceeds supported the Nehru Memorial Project in Britain.
